El Tros Nou – Vi de Vila (Bellmunt)

Vi de Vila from Bellmunt made with 80 % Hairy Grenache from century-old vines. It offers ripe tannins and beautifully integrated oak. On the palate it is dense, long, and balanced, with flavors of ripe fruit and subtle floral notes.
  • Varietals: 80% Hairy Grenache and 20% Carignan, from the village of Bellmunt del Priorat.
  • Vineyards:
Tros Nou: Vines: 2,500. Age: 95 years. Varieties: Hairy Grenache, Carignan. Average yield per vine: 0.5 kg.
  • Vinification: Cold pre-fermentation maceration at 10 ºC for 3 days. Alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, with a maximum of 28 ºC in polyester and epoxy resin tanks. Total maceration time: 20 to 25 days. Malolactic fermentation in barrel.
  • Aging: 18 months in new 300-liter French oak barrels: 67% Burgundy-style, 33% Bordeaux-style.
  • Production: 970 bottles and 100 magnums.
  • Weather of the vintage: A rainy winter with low temperatures in April delayed vegetative growth. This was followed by a dry, warm summer, culminating in a late-August African heatwave with daytime temperatures reaching 40 ºC. This extreme heat affected the ripening process. The combined effect of the heatwave and the earlier vegetative delay made it difficult for the grapes to reach full physiological maturity, which occurred later than usual.
